Haunted? Who knows?

Image
Today is the rare day that I have mostly nothing to do and most everyone in the household is gone.   Yay? Well, today is also the day that I head to the hardware store. My daughter moved back home a couple of weeks ago.  This is a good thing for her because frankly, younger people in this day and age have a harder time 'getting started' at life.  Things cost more and there are less jobs that seem to pay a living wage.  So she came back to regroup and try again.  No problem. Except...downstairs. She's staying in the basement, which is a decently sized room itself, even if it has it's own quirks for being in the basement.  But downstairs is where I keep all my witchie accoutrements, and one of them is a small, old waterfall style armoire.  The armoire itself has a magnetic door latch and about five drawers.  The drawers are filled with various things, tools, and keepsakes that I've collected over the years.  The door is a small space...

How Did We Get Here? A message in a bottle...

I watched a documentary/biography the other night.  I think it's probably partially an autobiography.  But it was about a YouTuber that goes by the name JackSepticEye. His story is one of those feel-good stories, about someone doing something they loved and finding their way to a better place, in the sense of financially, mentally and even spiritually.  I didn't know much about him at all.   I found this guy surfing around on YouTube.  My daughters would watch other people playing video games, and oddly enough, the noises they made and hollering they did used to really get on my nerves.I happened upon him doing some collab work playing a game Among Us about a year after the pandemic started.  The popularity of the game had already ebbed, but listening to him play and interact with these other people online was so reminiscent of hanging out with a large group of friends in my younger years that I continued to listen and be amused. So I've been fol...

Is Telepathy Real?

Image
I believe that there is more to humans than we can imagine.  I believe that there's some sort of extrasensory communication that goes on between individuals.  Maybe something like telepathy. I believe in it because I swear, it's happened to me before.  There are two incidents that stand out in my mind the clearest, and the two that seem so perfect that I can't really argue that it doesn't exist.  At least, the only argument for it I can give is my personal experience.  Whether or not you believe me is entirely up to you. The first time I genuinely began believing in it, I was about 13.  I'd already started reading whatever I could find on the supernatural and occult, which as a kid, is kind of harder to get your hands on and you're not entirely sure what you're looking for.  I think that one of the biggest things I started with was Time Life Books series Mysteries of the Unknown.  It kind of gave me a little bit of knowledge about a whole lot of t...

Spring Equinox is Soon

Image
Spring Equinox is coming up soon.  The High Priestess and High Priest have agreed that my partner and I should be the ones to lead ritual. It's not the first one we'll have done, but it's something that we will probably be doing more often.  Leading ritual.  Because this is also part of working towards the goal of coming into our Second Degree in our tradition.  Competently creating and leading a ritual with the coven.   I've wrote rituals before.  Preformed them.  This will be the second one within the Tradition that I will do.  But honestly, I feel like nowadays, I fall to pieces. When I write, a lot of it comes fluidly, even if it isn't entirely cohesive.  More like a stream of consciousness type of writing.  But in particular, when I do spellwork, my words come in such a way that rhyming runes feel as if they are fluid.   But over the years, the ADHD and stuff, I have the hardest time remembering things.  No matte...

A Hard Day's Night

Having ADHD can make some things breezy and other things extremely difficult.  One of the things that I do all-or-nothing seems to be the housework.  There might be days everything is a total wreck, and days everything is immaculate.   Yesterday, I got a lot done.  I vacuumed all three floors, cleaned litter boxes, painted a wall, cleaned one of the bathrooms thoroughly and various other tasks that needed work.  But for the first time in years, I didn't sleep last night. I'm not sure that it's not tied to the medications I take or the diagnosis that I have in particular, but I tossed and turned for a few hours, surfed my phone for a few hours, and finally got up and made V-Day breakfast pamcakes for my husband. I got about two and a half weeks before my youngest daughter moves back home. This doesn't bother me in so much there's going to be another person under the roof, I just really wish that her first time out of the gate would have been successful...

Everybody's Got a Story

Image
Everybody's got a story.  Some is just a string of facts which are laid out neatly,  clean-cut and straightforward.  Others are embellished, decorated, hazy, detailed, or otherwise something that takes a certain amount of creativity to get presented to an audience.  There really isn't anything wrong with either type of story, but the latter, the storyteller, seems to be able to keep an audience better than the drier version of events. To give you an example...I was at work today, relating something I had seen to a co-worker.   I was driving down a major freeway, and I spied one of these cars on the inside margin of a highway divided a long green belt.  It had recently snowed, and I'd passed several cars already in various states of disuse.  I'd even passed a black SUV that sat precariously on its hood, the airbags deployed and the driver side door open wide, a ghost of what could have been a tragic accident.  But there was this toy car,...
